Pain and Addiction: A Challenging Co-Occurring Disorder , by Mel Pohl, MD, FASAM, is derived from Dr. Pohl's popular lecture. The e-book is drawn from several versions of the lecture he shares around the country. Dr. Pohl is a board-certified family practitioner and Vice President of Medial Affairs and the Medical Director of Las Vegas Recovery Center (LRVC), the only private freestanding, medically managed inpatient detoxification and addiction treatment facility in Las Vegas, Nevada. Dr. Pohl is a Fellow of the American Academy of Family Practice and a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at University of Nevada School of Medicine. Dr. Pohl is the author of numerous books on pain recovery; and was a key force in developing the Chronic Pain Recovery Program at Las Vegas Recovery Center.

Legacy of Shame and the Recovery Process, by Claudia Black , MSW, Ph.D., is derived from a talk entitled Legacy of Shame and the Recovery Process that Dr. Black gave at the US Journal Training Conference in March 2011. Dr. Black is a renowned addiction author, speaker, and trainer internationally recognized for her pioneering and contemporary work with family systems and addictive disorders. Dr. Black's work offers models of intervention and treatment related to family violence, multi-addictions, relapse, anger, depression, and women's issues. Her writings and teachings have become a standard in the field of addiction and addiction treatment/recovery. Dr. Black designs and presents training workshops and seminars to professional audiences in the field of family services, mental health, addiction, and correctional services, as well as speaking in public forums about addiction and recovery. She speaks to thousands of people every year.
