Health Communications, Inc. (HCI), a nationally known publisher and book distributor, has contracted to distribute the titles of Central Recovery Press (CRP), a Las Vegas publisher specializing in books about addiction treatment and recovery, it was announced today.
Stuart Smith, president and CEO of CRP’s parent company, Central Recovery Treatment, said he is delighted with the HCI distribution agreement, which will take effect February 1, adding it should open new doors for titles published by the fledging CRP, “Publishers Committed to Addiction Recovery.”
“This is an exciting opportunity for CRP,” Smith said. “We’re very pleased for the opportunity to work with such a respected leader in the healthcare publishing community.”
HCI, “The Life Issues Publisher,” has been publishing and distributing books since 1977. Several of its titles are known around the world. They include Chicken Soup for the Soul, Adult Children of Alcoholics, and Healing the Shame that Binds You.
CRP is a new full-service publishing and intellectual property clearinghouse located in Las Vegas, Nevada and specializing in recovery and addiction topics. The company is committed to publishing exceptional books and material addressing addiction treatment and recovery and seeks to become an established leader in the field of behavioral healthcare publishing.
CRP titles due out in 2008 include:
- My First Year in Recovery: a journal to capture the first year of a recovering individual’s new life;
- A Day without Pain: written by nationally-known addiction specialist Mel Pohl, MD, FASAM, medical director of Las Vegas Recovery Center, addressing how to live with chronic pain without becoming addicted to prescription drugs;
- Of Character: Building Assets in Recovery: Beautifully-written reflective narratives address assets that help build character as the “old way” of living in addiction is shed;
- Mommy’s Gone To Treatment and Mommy’s Coming Home from Treatment: two brightly illustrated children’s books for kids four to eight years old that tackle the pain and confusion a young girl experiences when her mother enters and then returns from addiction treatment;
- Tails of Recovery: Addicts and the Pets that Love Them: poignant and moving stories from recovering addicts about how the unconditional love of their pets brought them back from the horrors of active addiction;
- Recovery Dictionary: Words and phrases commonly used in twelve-step fellowships are highlighted and defined in this recovery-oriented compendium;
- A Series of Cultural Diversity in Recovery: An exploration of the challenges that cultural differences can present in recovery. Each title will focus on a topic such as religion, sexual identity, or age and address unique characteristics and special needs in recovery;
- Dad’s Goes to Treatment and Dad’s Coming Home from Treatment: children’s books for kids six to ten years old addressing issues children confront when a parent goes to treatment for addiction.
